The McDonnell Douglas DC-8-71 is a variant within the Douglas DC-8 series of narrow-body airliners. Alongside its variants, the DC-8 family was produced over the years from 1958 to 1972, and 556 units were produced in total. Although only a small number continue to operate in limited service as cargo aircraft, the Douglas DC-8 has historically been used by a number of operators including United Airlines, UPS Airlines, and Delta Air Lines. The Douglas DC-8-71 variant was directly converted from the DC-8-61, replacing its engines and some various structural components.
