The Piper PA-47 “PiperJet”, also known as just the PiperJet, was a very light jet project that was spearheaded by Piper Aircraft during the 2000’s. The PiperJet was first announced in 2006 to compete with similar twin-engined aircraft such as the Cessna Citation Mustang and Eclipse 500. For its fuselage design, it adopted the same cross section as the Piper PA-46 series, increasing its length by four feet. The first flight of the PiperJet was conducted in July of 2008 and preorders began with an anticipated service date of 2010. Although the aircraft was a technical success in design, the project was canceled in October of 2011 due to economic conditions.
