The Cirrus SR20 is a general aviation monoplane that is constructed from composite materials. Designed and developed by Cirrus Aircraft since 1999, over 1,332 units have been produced as of 2016. The SR20 had its first flight in 1995, and in 1998 the aircraft received FAA certification. At the time of its release, the SR20 served as one of the first of its class to receive FAA Part 23 certification in a number of years. The SR20 also stands apart from many other aircraft, being the only in its class to have side stick flight controls that maintain some aspects of a conventional yoke handle.
