The Extra EA 500 is a private single engine high wing turboprop aircraft designed and manufactured by Extra Aircraft. It has been in production since 2004 and has a base price of 1.89 million dollars USD. Unlike most Extra aircraft, the EA 500 is a cross country aircraft with exclusive features such as carbon fiber construction, a pressurized cabin, high strutless wings, and accommodation for up to six passengers. The company was founded in 1980 by Walter Extra, an aerobatic pilot who wished to design and produce his own aerobatic aircraft. The company is based at Dinslake airfield in Huenxe, North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. Extra has 75 employees and produces roughly three aircraft per month. In addition to the EA 500, the company produces the EA 230, 260, 300, 330, 330-LT, 400, and 500 aircraft.
